Photographers

This might offend some... but oh well.
It really seems like everyone and their mom is a photographer these days. No offense to my sister and mom who are REAL photographers. LOL. I guess people these days think that if they own a camera, they are photographers and that they could probably make a living off of it. I've been around photography my whole life, and I've learned from the best. Do I claim to be a photographer? No. I consider it a hobby of mine. It just bothers me when people post these pictures and the lighting is horrible or they just aren't even good pictures to begin with. Raven could probably take better pictures and he's a baby!

I'm just venting I guess. It just irritates me.

On a positive note- the air conditioner is about to be cut back on!!!!

  1. I agree with you. I have been trying to learn for a couple of YEARS now...there is SO much to learn and I know many people that buy a camera and start CHARGING people! I would NEVER. I don't want to be a photographer ever...just want to learn to take better pictures. And I LOVE your pictures...you can tell you have learned well...and of course your sister's pictures of Raven are just gorgeous! I hope I can get as good as your family someday...and even then I wouldn't do this as a buisness. I know a lady on Cafemom that is wanting to charge people, and she JUST bought a camera and her pictures are dark and OOF....I worry about her customers at this point! I get really frustrated that someone asks a photographer what camera they are using...it is NOT the camera...it is the person WORKING the camera.

  2. Okay, I got it working now. I completely agree with you! And you can tell by the pictures that they just have them on auto settings. I don't think I would ever do pictures for anyone other than myself. And besides, I like taking pictures of cars. Hahaha.

  3. I was at a wedding once...and I watched the photographer more than the ceremony or anything else LOL. She ran around like crazy to get the shots she wanted. She was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day and had blisters on her feet. Looked like she would have just passed out if she had layed down for a second, there at the end. Photography is HARD work. It is a SKILL. And you certainly COULD do it professionally, I know I would pay for your work...if you wanted to anyway LMAO...I would never want to work that hard and I think some of these ladies just up and buying "big cameras" DON'T understand all the effort that SHOULD be put into a great picture.

  4. Thanks! My sister wears herself completely out! She's got fluid on her knee and is always exhausted. She stays up sometimes all night editing pictures and she goes above and beyond for her clients! I couldn't do it. A. I don't have the patience. B. I don't have the patience. LOL. And she will do ANYTHING to get the shot. And you know, she wasn't as good as she is now when she started out... but she didn't just point and click either. I dunno. Some people really got upset by this post. And I wasn't dissing everyone.

  5. Lol. Didn't offend me one bit! I completely know where you are coming from, and completely agree. My photos have come a long way but still are no way perfect to me. Then there are the ones that over charge for their over processed and over sharpened eyes. Or they undercharge and take every ones business that really works hard for it and in turn gives everyone crappy photos.
